India is a land of mountains, rivers and various species of flowers, plants, and animals. And between these mountains and flowers, our ancestors started practicing the art of meditation for their inner peace in a chaotic world.
From Gautam Buddha’s enlightenment to other Indian traditions, this old age practice finds a special place even in religious texts. The importance of meditation in managing stress, anxiety and living a peaceful life is globally recognized.
In this chaotic and distracting world, each of us is struggling with jobs, exams or any personal issue causing stress, anger, depression, and anxiety. As a result, in the last couple of years, the cases of people suffering from mental illness have increased. Therefore, meditation helps in developing the right attitude to deal with problems. It teaches us to become more aware of ourselves and helps us in responding rather than reacting in different situations.
Meditation is a practice of focusing the mind on a single object, activity or thought so that the mind becomes aware of the surroundings and becomes stable and calm. Meditation is just like mindfulness i.e. focusing carefully on the present moment without worrying about the future or thinking about the past. So, when our mind starts concentrating on a particular object or thought it stops roaming around and thinking about thousands of irrelevant things that come in our mind. Our mind achieves a state of calmness. Meditation is a practice that helps us in controlling our minds and to become more aware of our lives.
